It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving Mum, peacefully at her home in Wairoa.

Granddaughter of Wera Whatuira(dec) and Rumatiki Gemmell (dec) – Te Uhi Pa Wairoa, and Kawana Witinitara (dec) and Ettie-Olive Reeves (dec) – Te Orere

Daughter of Rewi Te Aotu Whatuira “Charlie” (dec) and Mary Kowhai Governor (dec)

Adored sister and sister in law of Lenny and Violet Kawana (both dec), Bully “Ernest” and Diane Kawana (dec), Horiana “Bubbles”and Gemmell Tuahine (dec) and Rex Harrison (dec), Nelson (dec), Lovey and Api Paletua (both dec), David Whatuira and Pauline Manu(dec), Nelly Winter, Lillian Whatuira and Eric, Mary Whatuira and Jekesoni Fatafehi (dec), Marion (dec) and Mike Paul, Alf Whatuira and Gay Phillips (dec), Ronald Governor Whatuira (dec), Jocelyn Whatuira and Nu’u-Alofa Perese – “Nick” (dec), Denis and Ellen Whatuira, Warren Whatuira and April Kaaho.

Loving Mum to Sean Christopher Paletua – “Boloz), and mother in law to the beautiful Louella Te Amo (dec).  Loving Mum to Aroha Anabelle – “Pearl and Boo Kahukura.  Loving Mummy to Tanenui Te Aotu Whatuira-Kawana “Tee”, “Tane”.

Loving Nana to Rythem Parearau, Selwyn Falcon and Maia.  Loved Aunty to all her nieces and nephews and adored friend to many.

Mum will make her way to Taihoa Marae on Saturday 21 June 2025 at 12pm where her nehu will be held at 11am on Tuesday 24 June 2025 followed by her burial at Orehu Urupa, Te Uhi Pa Road Wairoa.
